Republic – Vickie M. Skogman, age 59 of 8378 Co. Rd. 601, Republic passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at her home in Republic. Vickie had been in ill health the past couple of years.
Vickie was born August 6, 1953 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Charles and Martha (Prusi) Alto. She was a lifelong Republic resident, graduating from the Republic High School in 1971. Vickie had worked as the Republic Township Clerk for 20 years. She had also worked at Bill’s Black Rail and the Pine Grove in Republic.
Vickie was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She played horseshoes on the women’s team in Republic and was a member of the Pipeline Ski Club. Vickie loved doting on her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching TV shows such as WWE Monday Night Raw, any cooking show, and the FBI files. She was an avid reader and passed her time by crocheting, doing crosstitch along with canning fruits and vegetables from her husband’s garden. Vickie was loved very much by her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends. We will miss her greatly everyday!
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Eugene Skogman of Republic, two daughters – Kerry (Andy) Carlson of Humboldt Loc. and Kasey (Duane) Saari of Republic, a son Kristoffer Skogman of Republic, 10 grandchildren – Cody and Jake Carlson, Taylor, Alyson and Paige Saari, James Rosenbaum, Jodie, Kristin, Brandon and Jack Skogman, brothers – Paul Alto and Kurt (Chris) Alto, sisters – Krystal Mattila, Valerie “Dotcy” (Dan) Arpiainen and Lori Alto, sisters-in-law – Cheryl Kellow and Barbara Williams, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Walter Alto, her father-in-law and mother-in-law – Pete and Elsie Skogman, and a close friend Nancy Wenberg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic with the Rev. Douglas Norquist to officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10am until 11am on Wednesday at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic. Burial will take place at the Republic Cemetery.
